Join ArtMakers, Imminent Brewing, and KYMN radio for a Halloween Edgar Allan Poe Live radio broadcast. Be part of our live studio audience in an evening of fright, horror and delight as we feature some of Poe’s most notable scary stories. Participate, or just listen, as a cast of spooky actors, musicians, ghosts, ghouls, and zombies present several Poe stories in all their blood curdling splendor. Come join us on Halloween evening, with audience warm-up at 6:30 and the live broadcast starting at 7:00 pm. Though it is the evening when the veil is at its thinnest, this production is suitable for most ages. We cannot, however, be responsible for the behavior of the zombies…"Brains!"

We are thrilled to welcome back our friends Page, Jake, Mike and Brooke - Americana artists with a bluegrass twist. Soaring vocals meets an old-timey twang for an extra-fun evening of incredible tunes.

Guitarist and composer Zacc Harris is best known for his work with the acclaimed Atlantis Quartet, recipients of the 2015 McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians. On his 2017 release American Reverie, Harris explored the nostalgia and contradictions of the American songbook through modern jazz interpretations of music by Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, The Ronettes, Woody Guthrie, and traditional folk sources. Praising the album, All About Jazz wrote that “the arrangements are full of fresh twists, all played with an understated warmth.” The release earned Harris the honor of Best Twin Cities Jazz Artist from City Pages later that year.

Harris returns to this territory with American Reckoning, a new trio recording featuring bassist Matt Peterson and drummer Lars-Erik Larson. Reimagining songs such as “Amazing Grace,” “Hard Times,” and “House of the Rising Sun,” alongside music by Bob Dylan and The Beach Boys, the album deepens Harris’ exploration of American roots music through inventive arrangements, modern jazz interplay, and a perspective shaped equally by reverence and reinvention. JazzWise Magazine says, "This is politically charged, emotionally weighty jazz...But the melodic purity of the folk tunes on display here continues to shine through like a ray of hope."

We have an EXTRA special night of Jazz for you tonight: our friends Kevin, Dave and Reid (AKA Trius) are bringing a couple extra cool cats to play along! Coming from Germany is Original Drachenfelser Musikanten, a folk music brass band reflecting the Rhineland tradition of the Drachenfels Mountains. Masters of polka, the band features a tenor horn, trumpet, tuba and accordion. Their leader, tuba player Erhard Schwarz, was at the VBF for the first time in 2006 and is a noted specialist on such exotic instruments as the ophicleide and helicon. Drachenfelser have been regular participants in the Vintage Band Festival in recent years and have a dedicated fan club among the locals of German and Czech traditions. Original Drachenfelser Musikanten has previously played at Vintage Band Festival in 2010, 2013 and 2016.

The Blue Canaries are a Northfield band with great songs, great musicians, and just the right amount of chaos.

Chris leads on guitar (or so we're told). Dusty keeps the groove going on bass. Taylor brings the keys and somehow translates music into something the rest of the band can understand. Jordyn and Sam deliver powerhouse vocals, and Will makes the drums go bong.

They're local. They're talented. They're a lot of fun.

Join us for an evening of live music, fresh beer, and hometown vibes.

Last Sundays of the month, join us in welcoming ArtMakers OR a subset of this amazing group of artists! Tonight, we are proud to welcome a dueling duo of two incredible guitarists, Brian Johnson and Rafi Dworsky. They'll each sing a few songs solo and then they'll combine forces for a few songs together, but every moment will be sure to delight the crowd!
