Laura Caviani Christmas Trio

Come join us for a festive evening of wintry jazz tunes featuring pianist Laura Caviani, drummer Jay Epstein, and Imminent regular Kevin Clements on bass.

Laura Caviani is a veteran of over two decades of performing, recording, and composing. Her recordings have received such praise as “stunningly fresh” from JazzTimes and “in a word, outstanding” from the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Recent commissions include diverse projects ranging from setting music to poetry, to composing string quartets and choral works. A dedicated educator, she is on faculty at Carleton College, where she directs the Jazz Ensemble, coaches chamber groups, and teaches jazz piano. Her interest in traditional holiday music has led to many recordings, including “Angels We Haven’t Heard”, along with two projects for Target Stores.

Jay Epstein is undoubtedly one of the busiest drummers in the Twin Cities. He studied poly-rhythmic concepts in Manhattan and has lived in Hollywood, Oklahoma City, Montana, Miami, Minneapolis, and played in house bands for 5 years on several cruise ship lines. Jay has done 7 European tours and shared a few choruses with many jazz greats. His CDs, "Long Ago" & "Easy Company" featuring bassist Anthony Cox and pianist Bill Carrothers, have garnered luminous reviews in the international press.

Joining Laura and Jay is on bass is Imminent’s regular, Kevin Clements. This group has played regularly in the Twin Cities over the years but has not for many years. We’re all looking forward to this reunion to help Northfield enjoy some jazz and some holiday tunes.
