Potter's Pasties

One of the big myths about England is the one that says the food is terrible.

Yes, it’s true that you can’t really find a cold glass of water in the UK, and it helps to really love peas, but to just dismiss the culinary offerings of an entire country (or four united ones, even) is folly. And wrong. And kind of ignorant.

And it is clearly the work of someone who has never eaten a pastie.

First of all, they’re pronounced pă-stees, and secondly, they’re awesome. Potter’s Pasties, the finest maker of pasties in the Upper Midwest, will be at Imminent Brewing on January 13th and again on the 20th to show you just how good these things are.

These are traditional puff pastry wrapped pies with ingredients like minced beef, onions, potatoes and gravy, or braised pork, apples, onions and coriander. Potter’s has created some of their own unique offerings, as well with Thai ingredients, or veggie offerings.

Potter’s Pasties has long been considered among the best of the Twin Cities food trucks. We can’t wait to have them parked at Imminent Brewing!

Matt Arthur has been hard at work on a new solo album over the past nine months! On The Edge, At The Bottom is coming out in January on House of Mercy Recordings with eleven songs that hearken back to Matt’s first solo gospel recording (2003’s The Way I See It).

Join us to celebrate the release of this amazing brand-new solo gospel record by Matt Arthur. Featuring an album set by Matt and his recording collaborators (The Blood Washed Band!), plus an extended set by Matt Arthur & the Bratlanders, southern Minnesota’s most countrified rock band (or rocked-out country band?)!

Fred the Bear

Fred the Bear is an alt-rock band known for their rich harmonies, emotive dynamics and original songs. FTB’s music reflects on life's promises and disappointments through personal crafted lyrics and driving rhythms.  Mixed within their originals is a blend of music from other Midwest artists, currently touring groups and classic bands.

Their name and their drive for a great live sound is a tribute to Bruce "Fred the Bear" Eschler.  At his bar, the "Bear's Den", you’d always get a stiff drink and when the music was crankin', you were in for a heck of a night.  So we play tribute to the man who provided us with our first glimpse into the energy of live music .... Fred the Bear.

TLA- Live Jazz Music - time tentative

TLA is the combination of three top tier Twin Cities jazz players who happen to have deep connections to Northfield. Bassist Kevin Clements taught jazz bass at Carleton College for years when he wasn’t flying as a commercial pilot or gigging with folks like Rosemary Clooney, Robert Goulet or any number of Twin Cities jazz greats. Like wise drummer Eric Hanson has been a mainstay in the Twin Cities jazz scene for decades. Dave Hagedorn is among the most in-demand vibes (the vibraphone is that thing that looks like a xylophone) players in the country, having played with some of the most prestigious musicians and organizations in music from Brian Setzer and Phil Hey to the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. These three guys will come together at Imminent Brewing on Sunday afternoon to help you wind down your weekend with some cool jazz and a couple relaxing pints.

The Frothy band
Jan

7:00 PM19:00

The Frothy band

The Frothy Band will try to give you a fun night out at the pub by combining two important aspects of Irish culture: a fine beer (such as that found at Imminent Brewing) combined with energetic acoustic Irish music. Imagine yourself out for a pint in a small Irish village. You have a have a great beer on the bar in front of you. Next to you there’s a new friend you’ve never seen before discussing who-knows-what in a barely understandable version of what may be English, and in the corner a ragtag menagerie starts to pull instruments out of well-worn cases. When they start attempting to tune you think maybe it’s time to go. When they start playing you think maybe it’s time to order another pint and stay.

The Frothy Band is composed of some of the liveliest musicians on the Minnesota Irish session scene: Laura MacKenzie (flute, maybe whistle, perhaps the odd song), Matt Wehling (mandolin), Mary Vanorny (fiddle), Paul Wehling (Irish bouzouki), and Tom Klein (the mysterious Irish Uilleann pipes). Cumulatively they have over 163 and two thirds years of experience playing Irish music all over the world. But their hectic touring schedules make it hard for them to all get together in the same room, which makes each of their gigs extra special for them.

About the name: On the one hand “Frothy” refers to the fine bit of head found on a well-poured pint, but it’s also a nod to one of the seminal bands of traditional Irish music, the Bothy Band. For Irish music aficionados “of a certain age,” The Bothy Band were the Beatles of Irish music, the original inspiration to pick up instruments and give Irish music a go. The Frothy Band looks back at that time in their lives when the music was new and recaptures the energy and fun of playing tunes for the sake of playing tunes, enjoying each other’s company, and not because they want to sell a CDs at the break or make it big. It’s just a night at the pub with friends, a few tunes, and a nice pint.

Heavy Metal Grill Food Truck

http://www.theheavymetalgrill.com/

In the beginning...Motley Crews Heavy Metal Grill came to life one day after reading an article about the food truck craze on Entrepreneur.com & It hit me like a bolt of lightning. With over 15 years in the restaurant industry and 15 years of marketing experience, a food truck would be my destiny!

Growing up in the 80's, was absolutely awesome! I mean Like Totally Awesome! A timeless generation of quirky catch phrases, freaky fashion and music, oh yeah the music! 80's rock is still alive and as strong as ever, many are still rocking today and local bands like Hairball keep this generation alive! An 80's rock themed food truck it shall be, now I needed a name.

I knew that I did not want to brand myself as a certain type of food truck and that I wanted the freedom to change my menu with the season or for that matter the mood I was in. This would not be possible with "Hot Dog or Philly stamped on the side of my truck. I mean who would think you could get an authentic Philly from a truck with a clown on the side? It was only a matter of time before that train of thought came to a head on collision with my love for music from the 80's and POOF! Motley Crews Heavy Metal Grill was born!

Now I needed a menu and since I have never been a fan of fine dining and know that local dives like The Nook, Matt's or even Cosetta's have the best food in town, I knew this would be a challenge…or would it? I made the decision to NOT make a decision and do it my way! You want a good Philly? You got it! Seafood Paella? Done! The last piece of the puzzle was in place. I will make Food That Rocks!

Bonnie & the Clydes

Music performed by Bonnie & the Clydes can best be described as the kind of songs you listened to when you and friends were renting your first apartment near the campus sometime in the sixties or early seventies and your entire furniture contribution to the apartment consisted of a mattress and a coffee table made from a telephone company wooden spool that you snatched from a construction site next to the natural food grocery that was up the rear stairway above the paraphernalia shop where they also sold posters and lava lamps and had a cat in the front window named Quagmire who was the mother of one of your girlfriend's kittens that is now sleeping in your guitar case in the back of your VW microbus next to Ken Kesey's book, a bottle of Boone's Farm Apple Wine and a stack of signs protesting the government's policies in some far-off country.

Wilkinson James

Join us for two hours of torch, swing, and honky-tonk along with great food and craft beers!

Here's how they describe themselves:

Wilkinson James is a Minneapolis based band. We'd give ourselves some sort of musical label if we could. Maybe you could call us the bastard offspring of June Carter Cash and Townes Van Zandt. But then we slide into those big band torch songs with sweet saxophone sweeping into the mix...and those straight up Dylan-esque folk tunes...and then there's maybe a touch of Etta James...
We're a little bit of all of those
It's all good
We're all good
